The Mammoth Ice Rink is an outdoor rink right in our own backyard. Here you can find public skating sessions, hockey clinics, pick-up hockey, and special events. If you don’t have skates—don’t worry, rentals are available with the skating price for only $10 per adult, $8 for youths, and $3 for kids ages 4 and under.
Navigate a snowmobile through the Inyo National Forest in the heart of Mammoth Lakes. Choose from over 100 miles of trails or set out on 75,000 acres of open terrain east of town.
Dogs love snow as much as humans do, as you’ll learn on a dog sled ride through the Inyo National Forest. Mammoth Dog Teams provide authentic dog sledding experiences for families and adventurers of all ages.
The birds of the Eastern Sierra offer both the casual and the dedicated birdwatcher a large and diverse population, with nearly 300 species of birds spotted in the area. With a pair of binoculars and a bird identification guide, birding in the Eastern Sierra can be rewarding for a few hours or for a lifetime.
Visit Mono Lake, Grant Lake, or the majestic mountain scapes of Crowley Lake for canoeing, kayaking, and other outdoor adventures. Rent your canoes, kayaks, or even jet skis, boats, and boating equipment to enjoy a fun-filled time with the entire family in the beautiful outdoors.
Mammoth Lakes fishing is available year-round. Well-known fishing areas include Mammoth Lakes Basin, Mammoth Creek, Convict Lake, Crowley Lake, Rock Creek Lake to Long Lake, June Lake Loop.
Mammoth Lakes is surrounded by two million acres of Inyo National Forest that includes the pristine John Muir and Ansel Adams Wildernesses. Enjoy scenic drives, nature walks, picnicking, and stunning photography spots around the vistas, fields of wildflowers and granite peaks. Favorite areas for hiking include: the Mammoth Lakes Basin and Red Madow.
After a long day on the slopes there is nothing better than enjoying a soak in one of Mammoth Lakes Natural Hot Springs. The Long Valley Caldera offers a geological paradise where geothermal activity super heats water sources for your soaking pleasure.
Excellent paddling opportunities abound at the numerous lakes in the Mammoth Lakes area. Kayak on Mono Lake or paddleboard while taking in the granite skyline surrounding the Mammoth Lakes Basin.
We’re within an hour’s drive of Yosemite National Park from the Tioga Pass entrance on Highway 120, south of Lee Vining. From there you begin your adventure to the John Muir Trail, Crane Flat and Tuolumne Meadows. Continue on the Yosemite Valley (1-1/2 hour) to see the spectacular wonders of the Sierra. The Mammoth Lakes area has mountaineering and rock climbing terrain for everyone. Hire a local guide to show you the ropes or get the kids interested at Mammoth Mountain’s rock climbing wall — a great place to try out the basics.
Riders of all abilities can enjoy Mammoth Mountain Bike Park’s extensive trail system. The Scenic Gondola provides uphill access for mountain bikers throughout the summer, withmore than 100 miles of dirt singletrack trail with 3,100 foot descent from the summit. Take the ‘Bike Park’ shuttle from The Village at Mammoth. Mountain bikes are transported to the Main Lodge area free of charge for those who have purchased a Mountain Bike Park Pass.
Summer brings jazz in July with the Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee while August brings blues with the Festival of Beers & Bluesapalooza, Mammoth Food & Wine Experience, classical music with the Sierra Summer Festival, the Mammoth Festival, chamber music with the Mammoth Music Festival and the Felici Piano Trio presented by Chamber Music Unbound and Mammoth Rocks / Taste of the Sierra.
